Health care that matters: Real choices for real competition – AEI – American Enterprise Institute: Freedom, Opportunity, Enterprise30th November 2018
The US health care system salutes choice and competition rhetorically, if not operationally. But innovative, value-enhancing products and providers still face persistent barriers to entry and an unlevel playing field across the regulatory and reimbursement grids. Despite ample skepticism about the pace and impact of oft-promised changes to health policy, the search for renewable-resource investments in more vigorous choice and competition alternatives continues.
Join AEI for an extensive review of current policy barriers and promising opportunities to overcome them. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar will outline the role that choice and competition — and the regulatory reforms necessary to make them a reality — can play in delivering higher-quality health care at a lower cost. Attendees will also hear from several panels of leading policy experts and health industry innovators about how to expand the range of choice and competition to improve health outcomes, while maneuvering past practical challenges and political hurdles.
