Roosevelt Institute Releases Statement re: Steinbaum’s Twitter Account

Vitriol on Twitter is not new. The last few weeks, however, have been especially contentious for those of us debating new policy proposals to tax the super-wealthy, since we have been subjected to aggressive and hostile attacks from right-wing media. As a shield against those attacks, Marshall on his own decided to disable his Twitter account. That is why he is now offline. This decision was not in response to any pressure from the Roosevelt Institute, from outside influences, or from funders. We hope this pause helps Twitter users and the public focus on discussing the substance of the policy questions before us, rather than exacerbating animus toward individuals.
